Founder/ President
Nicole Silva
Hi, my name is Nicole Silva. I was born and raised in Westport, MA. Throughout my life, I was always surrounded by dogs, cats and rabbits. I have a deep love and passion for animals that started from my childhood, and I could not remember a time when I did not have any pets.
Throughout my involvement with 4H, I raised and showed rabbits and goats at many fairs across the county. Not only did I gain knowledge and experience of many different species and breeds of livestock through 4H, I also focused on my community by collecting donations for a local animal shelter and bringing our pets to visit the patients living in the local nursing homes. That was just the beginning of her journey with animals.
In my early teen years, I began working with horses as a caretaker at a local farm in Adamsville, RI. I started learning all that I could about horses and how to properly care for them. I took on another position of being a camp counselor for many years working with the horses, and teaching children the care of the horses, safety being around horses, and beginner level riding. A neighbor of the nearby farm asked me to look after her cat while she was visiting some family. Word of mouth spread so quickly, and before I knew it, I had started a small business. With my love and knowledge for animals, I launched Hooves and Paws Pet Sitting.
In my high school years, I attended Bristol County Agricultural High School majoring in Large Animal Science to continue my education and experience with livestock and equine. After graduation, I attended and graduated Bristol Community College with the focus of Business Management and Entrepreneurship.
My vision for the company is to focus on each pet and their individual needs. From having my own small farm, I understand that it was hard to travel, or have back up help that understands farm animals as well as indoor animals. I also understand that each animal has their own special care. It is very important to keep the pets as happy and comfortable during a difficult time that their owner is away. A passion for animals can not be taught, it is something that someone is born with.
